To:

Colleagues and friends,

I write on a personal basis to ask for any help you can offer with our efforts to provide equipment and training for advanced trauma care to medical and paramedic colleagues in Ukraine.

UCD Centre for Emergency Medical Science has trained many of the Paramedics, Advanced Paramedics and doctors who provide advanced pre-hospital emergency care in Ireland.  We have also worked closely with the Irish Defence Forces in the training of their Combat Medical Technicians over a number of years.

Based on all of that experience, we have been asked to support the training of paramedic and medical colleagues in Ukraine who are providing initial emergency care for the victims of severe trauma. Our proposals to provide specific, effective, evidence based forms of early advanced care have been agreed to by the Ukrainian authorities.

As ever, the funding of that work is a major challenge and I write to ask for any help you or your colleagues can offer. I am very conscious of the extraordinary generosity that Irish people have already demonstrated towards Ukraine – if you feel you can contribute even a little more to support the work of our colleagues in Ukraine, I would be very grateful.

Donations can be made using the following Ukraine Trauma Fund Appeal link on the UCD Foundation page.
