ICT Tip 172 – Socrates – Who is due an MMR vaccine?

A topical issue at the moment.
We are greatly hampered in any efforts we might undertake here by virtue of the fact that we do not give the booster at 4/5 years old and have no way of knowing which of our patients did or did not get their second shot.  We can look at who is overdue their first MMR. In general, we are already excellent at doing this.  In view of the current concerns now might be a good time to double check. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some form of catch up program announced by the HSE, we can only wait and see.

What children are due their MMR?  There may be an easier way which I don’t know, if you do, let me know.

The report “Patients overdue and not given Shot X” sounds promising but you can only pick one vaccine at a time, and I think you will find there are lots of different MMRs in your list.

I recommend the report “children due immunisations”.

1: Put in dates here going back several months if not years for the start date and today’s date for the end date.
2: Put in age 0 or 1 to 5 or so here just to make the search quicker.
3: Click OK

You get a list of children who are overdue vaccines, you will have to go through them to see which are due MMR.

Great tip here Michael. This is clinically a really appropriate search to do and offer catch up vaccine to eligible patients! Easy search to do for PMs. Think the fee is about 36 per vaccine so also worth doing for practice potentially as well as for patient!
Best regards
Jean
