Many of you will know this already but when you search for a new drug, by default the search string searches the first word of the relevant drug only, if you use the generic or trade name option, it will search the first word in each column, trade or generic.
So, in this example:
[Graphical user interface Description automatically generated]
Searching for benzyl will find Benzyl Benzoate in the trade column and Benzylpencillin in the generic column. However, if you searched for Benzoate you would actually find nothing.
If on the other hand you click on the wildcard search tick box then it searches for any word that appears anywhere in the drug name. In fact, it will search anywhere in any word in the drug name.
So, ticking the wildcard and searching for zoate gives you this result
[Graphical user interface, application Description automatically generated]
This comes into its own when searching for ostomy products for example. If you know the code for the product, tick the wildcard search and search on the code. Without the wildcard this search would not find anything. See example below for Simpla 500ml leg bags, code 2155. Searching for simpla results in a bewildering array of products but using the code and the wildcard you can quickly find it.

I always had huge issues finding all the stoma product. Have to type the
brand name and scroll closely to find the suitable one. It’s great that u
can check using the product number with wildcard search.
Thanks Michael.

Michael l have no idea what you are talking about. In fact l never have
any idea what you are talking about. But you are a
genius anyway. Not a word l would associate with myself to often, but
genius you are. As stated in my
previous correspondance's elsewhere. Would there be any chance you could
produce a book of computer tips. A Ladybird Book of Computer Tips.
The younger Drs will have to look up the Ladybird Books !!
They would however be very useful to us doting old fogey's!! love and
kisses O'Reilly.
