Preparing vaccines in advance

Just waiting on the IMO webinar, I wonder what joys are ahead.
Regarding the vaccine clinics does anyone have official guidance on pre paring vaccines for administration, i.e. getting the 6 doses ready in one go, I seem to remember it being said in one of the ICGP webinars that this was not good practice and that doses should only be drawn up immediately before administration to the patient, which is what we have been doing.  What do others do and is there any link to official guidance on this question.

Hi Michael
We draw the vaccine when pt is in front of us. If we have got our 6 dose and think we may get a 7th dose, only then we draw the vaccine and then call the 7th patient.

On the ICGP webinar regarding vaccines it was said that there was no data regarding stability of the vaccine if it was predrawn - so the advice from (?niac I think) was only to draw up as we give.

I understand that data would be limited but if the vaccine will be
delivered within 20 minutes of being drawn up, I cannot imagine it being
impacted?
Would speed things up if all 6 or 7 can be drawn up in one step rather than
6 steps...

I agree Maureen and that’s what I have been doing. I draw up 6 at a time from a new vial so I know 20mins ahead if we are getting a 7th dose out of that vial and we can ring more people if it is towards the end of the day.

We were doing 16 vaccinations per hour yesterday for a team of 2 so it really doesn’t take long to get through 6.....
