Dear Colleagues,

The IMO and ICGP met with Dr Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer this morning to consider the impact of the HSE IT System Cyber Attack on services.  As with all other healthcare services General Practice will be significantly impacted and at this time the key issues for you to be aware of are as follows:

  • There is very limited access to diagnostics – GPs are asked to order only URGENT diagnostics including blood tests and radiology.  There will be significant delays in the manual processing and reporting.
  • There is no access to electronic referral systems and all referrals should be urgent in nature and manual
  • Non urgent requests cannot be processed.
  • GPs should continue to assess patients for COVID testing and advise them to attend local testing centre (all centres are now accepting walk ins) – please advise patients that results may take time but in the meantime to self isolate and follow public health guidelines
  • Emergency Departments and OOH services continue to operate
  • In relation to patients querying hospital appointments all patients should check HSE.ie for latest information – time critical appointments will continue
  • COVID 19 Vaccination deliveries will continue to General Practice and you should contact your relationship manger by phone (NOT email) for the time being
  • Do not submit online claims to PCRS at this time – keep record for submission when system is back online

Please see important message from Dr Colm Henry on these issues https://hse.ie/cacgmhttp://imo.newsweaver.com/memberadvisory/1njyjkw7m94fyod79xdkvj/external?email=true&a=6&p=59373767&t=32173960
