Hi All
Just thought it might be timely to remind us all all of the rare but serious condition of GpA strep given the recent high media coverage.
There is some good advice here from NBMedical https://www.nbmedical.com/blog/invasive-group-a-strep-a-keeping-it-simple-update
[https://www.nbmedical.com/assets/img/nb-square.jpg]https://www.nbmedical.com/blog/invasive-group-a-strep-a-keeping-it-simple-update
Invasive Group A Strep – A Keeping it Simple Update | NB Medicalhttps://www.nbmedical.com/blog/invasive-group-a-strep-a-keeping-it-simple-update
www.nbmedical.com
And here from the hpsc-
https://www.hpsc.ie/news/title-22663-en.html
I always now document and record the vital signs of any unwell children and have a page stuck behind my computer with normal values and amber and red values for kids with respiratory rate/pulse/sats etc.which is very useful. Safety netting carefully is always so important for me when I am sending these kids and parents home without treatment- we all know how quickly a child can become unwell and we are tending to see them earlier in their illness these days.
Best regards
Jean
Please note my workday may not match your workday please do not feel obliged to respond to this email outside of your working hours
Thanks Jean, that's very helpful. Does anyone have a recommendation for a
good paeds pulse oximeter. I've two but they are a bit flimsy and don't
always pick up the pulse rate
Thanks
Clodagh

On a NB talk last year they were saying it is difficult to access proper paediatric oximeters and they need to be ones that go around the whole foot else not accurate . Please share when you find them Ray as it would be a big help.
Have a good day all

I checked with our nurse and we got this one recently. It’s not for small babies! We sourced from Hibernia medical. She’s ordered a baby one from them
Also (more expensive).
