You can e-mail directly from within Socrates.  There are some conditions that need to be meet in order for it to work.  You must use Outlook for your e-mail and it must be the full local version, not the web version.  We all have a full outlook licence for outlook, if you need help setting up your Centric e-mail address via desktop outlook, the Centric IT desk can help you set up if needed.
There are two things that you can do.
E-mail the patient directly
E-mail any document in the file
Let's look at e-mailing the patient directly first.  To do this ensure that the patients e-mail address is in the e-mail field in the patient registration screen.  To get to this screen click on the patients' name or open the patients file via patient maintenance and open patient.

To e-mail the patient click on e-mail patient on the left hand side.  The mail will open with the patient's email address in the to field.

The other e-mail option is to e-mail a letter, either one you have just written or a document already in the file.
For this option go to the documents chapter and highlight the letter you want to e-mail, e.g.  the letter you have just written.  Highlight the letter and click on e-mail letter on the left.  The process is the same for e-mailing documents.  This time the e-mail will open but without the patients email address filled in because its more likely you are e-mailing to somebody else in this instance.

By the way you can also e-mail directly from within word when you have written a letter by clicking on file - share, in Word.
