Hi All
If you have any patients languishing on a waiting list for sleep studies, there is a pilot study in St Vincents Hospital for a quick assessment and home sleep study. It's being run by one of the sleep specialists there (details below). Its open to patients in ANY catchment area and there are just 12 spaces in this pilot study- so be quick! The hope is to get funding to expand the service after the pilot.

Centric Health is piloting a new sleep study referral and assessment pathway in conjunction with St Vincents Hospital. The aim of the pilot is to reduce the waiting time for assessment and improve the diagnostic pathway for patients with suspected sleep apnoea. Patients will be supported to complete a sleep assessment online and undergo a sleep study at home. Dr John Garvey, respiratory consultant and sleep specialist, will assess the patients results and provide a report, and where required a CPAP prescription, directly back to the referring GP. The pilot will initially involve 12 patients and will be provided free of charge. The inclusion criteria are those with a BMI >50kg/m2and who clinically warrant a sleep study as per GP assessment. If you would like to refer a patient to this programme, we would request you discuss this directly with the patient first and ensure they are happy to be referred to the programme. Then please emailsuanhealth@healthmail.iemailto:suanhealth@healthmail.iewith the patient’s name and contact details and include the patients age, BMI, BP, and an assessment of the upper airways (Mallampathi and tonsils). A brief medical history should also be included. The first 12 suitable patients will be offered a place on the pilot programme. If you have any questions or queries regarding the programme, please contact Aoife Coughlan atAoife.coughlan@centrichealth.iemailto:Aoife.coughlan@centrichealth.ie.

Kind regards
Jean Gallagher

John Garvey is a very good respiratory physician. My patients are very fond of him and it’s great to see him engaging with Centric in this project.
Keep up the great initiative all…..
