MIMS
Hi everyone
I haven’t seen any discussion anywhere about the change happening at MIMS Ireland where you now have to pay a subscription to access either their book or their website or both.
This is information that has been presumably subsidised/paid for by pharmaceutical advertising over the years. I will confess to being such a dinosaur that I would refer to the little MIMS book almost every day (I don’t really use their website…).
Whilst it has always struck me as incredibly wasteful to be printing and posting these to every GP in the country every month, I find it really useful and especially in OOH (but I’m not sure that I find it useful enough to start paying for it!). I know many people swear by the BNF (which I think you also have to pay for or subscribe to..?).
What is everyone planning to do about the MIMS disappearing? Are practices going to subscribe and share a book?

Hi Paul
I started using the Eolas app recently which has free access to the BNF but also the paediatric BNF which is excellent. You need your IMC number to register and it’s free.

Like you Paul, Mims has always been part of my daily prescribing practice and I can’t imagine at this stage in my life changing that practice. I didn’t know there was going to a charge for it but if there is I think the practice will just have to suck it up.
I can’t think of a more convenient way of keeping up to date the all the prescribing information we need in our daily work as GPs

I started using the Eolas app recently which has free access to the BNF but also the paediatric BNF which is excellent. You need your IMC number to register and it’s free.

I started using the Eolas app recently which has free access to the BNF but also the paediatric BNF which is excellent. You need your IMC number to register and it’s free.

I had tried previously looking at the Eolas desktop app (is that the one
you are talking about, rather than a phone one?), but when I click on MIMS
it just takes me to the MIMS login page https://www.mims.ie/about-us/ ?
Am I missing something really obvious?!
