Hi all
Was approached by Summit DNA to be the Louth hub for dna testing. They are based in Dublin and have hubs in Dublin. They do dna testing for Tusla and court cases. Clients contact them, gets directed to selected hub, the kits sent to the hub, the nurse/dr do the test, fill in form and gets posted( paid postage ). They are paying 40 euros for dna test and 5 euros for drug and alcohol( they use nail and hair to test).
Are any of the centric practices doing this?
2 mind about it. Didn’t give an answer but told them I will be in touch.
Any thoughts  are welcome

Hi Kandan et al,

If your nurse or PCA can do it and ….
There is NO need of an input from you
There is no great training need involved
It is not simply cannibalising existing business
And you have the spare capacity

I might look at it.

My reasoning being that – we charge €35 for a nurse done blood test and that invariably has then to be assessed by a doctor when the result comes in.

If you can get € 5 more for a ‘fire and forget’ procedure that doesn’t involve you, then it may make sense.

I know this is not strictly an Occ Med question, but I know there are lots of Docs within Centric who have an interest, and it is good to see us coming together and discussing things.  We have the makings of a handy little pan-country OH network.

“ Summit Dna will pay the practice once they receive the sample.”

I would suggest asking them to pay when making appointments
We do a few Employment Med and DNAs annoying as appointments tight and lost income = we are starting to ask companies to prepay for this type of work

Hi all
Was approached by Summit DNA to be the Louth hub for dna testing.

I have put it back to them about the DNA and cancellation rate.
I asked them about PCA doing it and if they need training g or not. I asked them to consider revising their rates and let see what happens.
