I am booked in but very disappointingly I am having to cancel attending as no locum cover available and down from 28 to 16 doctor sessions per week at present
This is very frustrating as trainers must attend every couple of years for practices to retain their training status.
Any cover out there for Friday?
Locomotion has drawn a blank again.
In addition
We have just learned that we will have a fallow year with no Reg assigned from mid July for the next twelve months.
This will mean a 12 month drop to 16 sessions per week and down to 6-10 per week when annual leave taken.
As of July we will need to close the practice some days when docs on annual leave unless a solution is found in the interim - we are looking at solutions locally but very difficult times ahead.

It would be brilliant if doctors across centric would consider offering cross cover to other practices occasionally where needs are pressing.
Most doctors do not work 10 sessions, which is understandable in such a demanding high pressured responsible job. However our Centric GP group are a fantastic resource and there is great potential to provide occasional support to other practices and colleagues.
On that grovelling note - is anyone free on Friday to travel to sunny Bailieborough for a days cover?

I’m afraid I can’t help this Friday but you are absolutely right - having some occasional leeway inevitably will be a game saver when we all have the sporadic crises you undoubtedly are experiencing right now.
I can assure you we are doing our absolute best to recruit locums and work through the obstacles getting international doctors registered and visas etc. We are making good progress on recruitment Gavin and not making any excuses but we intend to make headway ASAP.
Still I know that’s not the solution for you.

Locomotion has drawn a blank again.
In addition
We have just learned that we will have a fallow year with no Reg assigned from mid July for the next twelve months.
This will mean a 12 month drop to 16 sessions per week and down to 6-10 per week when annual leave taken.
As of July we will need to close the practice some days when docs on annual leave unless a solution is found in the interim - we are looking at solutions locally but very difficult times ahead.

I know many of us are busy and under the cosh.
This wasn’t a swipe at recruitment as I know it’s really difficult and has been for some years.
I don’t like to moan without at least attempting to consider solutions.
Many practices have similar issues intermittently and we just have to ride out the bumps.
The sharp end of the knife is on front desk/phone when limited appointments and all our staff need as much support as we can give - including missing conferences and other work off site.
We have a brilliant team in practice locally and everyone is pulling together as best we can. I hope others get as good support as I do in practice.
